About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Instructs preparatory school physical education and conditioning courses to prepare candidates for United States Military Academy admission.
Coaches collegiate-level sports teams, assists with football and track, maintains athletic facilities, and acts as a recruitment liaison for prospects.
Develops daily lesson plans and implements modern teaching and coaching methodologies, incorporating training aids to maximize student participation.
Administers and prepares physical aptitude exams and fitness tests to evaluate and document candidates' physical qualification for the Military Academy.
Monitors recruited athlete performance across military training, academics, and physical education by collaborating with instructors and tactical officers.
Maintains up-to-date performance databases and briefs the Director of Athletics on student-athlete progress, tracking development metrics.
Participates in professional seminars and curriculum development committees to plan, evaluate, and revise physical education and intramural programs.
Counsels student-athletes on academic, athletic, and school life adjustments while coordinating with department heads and maintaining testing records.
