23 open positions in this category
OPM series 1712. Teach or train employees and others, developing course materials, delivering instruction, and evaluating training programs.
The 1712 series has two main titles: training instructors, who deliver technical courses in classrooms, labs and on equipment, and training specialists, who analyze training needs, develop curricula and manage an organization’s training function. The series is especially common in the military services, where civilian instructors teach aircraft maintenance, fuels and electronics.
Recent listings have included training specialists and a lead training specialist, training instructors in aircraft maintenance, fuels and electronics, a supervisory training instructor, a supervisory training specialist for collective training, and training specialist positions posted in both merit promotion and public versions. Air Education and Training Command, the Veterans Health Administration, the Army’s Aviation and Missile Command, the Department of Education, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and the Pacific Fleet have been sources.
Applying tip: instructor announcements want proof that you know the trade as well as how to teach it, so describe both the subject-matter experience and the courses, platforms and evaluation methods you have used. Our federal resume guide explains how to document that experience in the detail federal announcements expect.
