Duties
Serving as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Policy and Planning) GS-2210-14 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Chief Information Officer Directorate (CIO), Cyber Security Division. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist and Deputy Division Chief with functional responsibilities as the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (DCISO), providing leadership and supervision of subordinate staff, evaluating work requirements, assigning and prioritizing work assignments, motivating employees, taking necessary personnel actions to achieve and maintain an acceptable level of work quality and employee performance, and managing the technical, administrative, and programmatic activities of the division to ensure that information systems and services meet the organization's cybersecurity and risk management requirements. Typical duties include: Providing technical leadership and supervision for subordinate employees to ensure the timely completion of assigned takes and projects Monitoring the daily activities of the cybersecurity program to ensure the timely implementation of the technical, operational, and managerial controls needed to protect the information technology infrastructure and systems of the component Tracking audit findings and recommendations to ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken, conducting independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an IT system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls Ensuring the collection of information from a variety of sources to monitor network activity and analyze behavior to identify and report events that occur or might occur within the network to protect information, information systems, and networks from threats.
