Summary
About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. This is a position with an initial overseas tour of 3 years with possible extensions for a total of 5 years.
Duties
Serves as Chief of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) performing duties for maintaining Defense Red Switch Network nodes.
Plans, coordinates, designs, and supervises system related relocations, upgrades, and installations. Responsible for the administration, diagnostic analysis and repair of the e Digital Small Switch (DSS-2A) and Peripheral Equipment.
Develops long-range plans for communications links to maintain and expand, where necessary, network coverage of the users.
Develops budget estimates and approves the allocation, distribution, and expenditure of financial resources for technical operations.
Evaluates and verifies the technical quality of signals sent via satellite and directly monitors quality at receiver locations to ensure satisfactory system operations.
Provides detailed technical analysis and evaluation of equipment problems.
Provides advice and assistance to senior level officials.
Establishes network operating standards for equipment and systems on the Command and Control Switching systems.
Supervises a staff of military and civilian personnel. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, prepares schedules for completion of work and assigns work based on priorities.
Evaluates performance of subordinates, provides advice, counsels and/or instructs employees on both work and administrative matters.
