In support of the NIST mission and collaboration with our stakeholders, the Emergency Services Office delivers dynamic emergency and physical security services for the protection of personnel, property, and activities located in NIST facilities.
Duties
Serves as a key leader in managing NIST's Emergency Management Program, driving essential initiatives that are critical to organizational success. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the organization's emergency readiness and operational resilience. Key responsibilities include: - Lead and oversee emergency management functions related to mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, ensuring programs align with organizational goals. - Manage the Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations to ensure seamless response during emergencies. - Develop, implement, and evaluate exercises and assessments to test and enhance emergency readiness and operational effectiveness. - Establish and enforce policies and procedures to support alternate site preparedness and ensure comprehensive organizational readiness. - Coordinate and oversee staff training programs to maintain high levels of preparedness across the organization. - Implement corrective actions based on After Action Reports and provide innovative solutions to identified challenges. - Analyze program operations to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend strategies that address challenges and enhance effectiveness. - Provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership, ensuring that emergency management initiatives align with long-term organizational objectives.
