Community Planning
10 open positions in this category
The 0020 series, Community Planning, covers professional planners who develop land use, facility and environmental plans for communities and installations. In the Department of the Air Force, the only source of listings here, the series has recently been used for environmental and installation planning positions at Air Force Materiel Command and the Space Force: air quality, environmental management, risk assessment and facility space management for bases.
Recent listings have included an air quality subject matter specialist, an environmental manager, an interdisciplinary environmental position, an interdisciplinary risk assessor/toxicologist, a facility space management subject matter expert, an AFIMSC program manager and a biological scientist in environmental work, most of them posted under direct hire authority.
Applying tip: 0020 carries a positive education requirement, a degree in community planning or a related field with planning coursework, and the Air Force’s interdisciplinary announcements let you qualify under one of several listed series, so pick the series your degree supports and say so. Direct hire authority means no category rating or veterans’ preference, so the resume is judged on its own. Our Air Force Materiel Command guide covers AFMC hiring.
