Summary
About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located in Okinawa Island, Japan. This is a position with an initial overseas tour of 24 months with possible extensions for a total of 5 years.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a Telecommunication Specialist responsible to the Commander, United States Army Signal Activity Okinawa.
Performs troubleshooting and provides technical direction to ensure timely restoration of optimal telecommunications services involving highly complex and technical issues, and personnel.
Ensures personnel comply with regulatory, doctrinal, procedural, and best practice initiatives in troubleshooting and restoration of telecommunications services and systems.
Ensures personnel comply with regulatory, doctrinal, procedural, and best practice initiatives in troubleshooting and restoration of telecommunications services and systems.
Performs maintenance, provides technical direction involving highly complex and technical issues while working with personnel located in different functional areas.
Ensures maintenance is completed in accordance with regulatory, doctrinal, procedural, and best practice initiatives including accuracy, timeliness, and completion of maintenance paperwork.
Provides positive control of repair parts and access to repair parts for all maintenance activities.
Provides site certification and developmental training on all systems, equipment, services, and procedures involving highly complex and technical training on all operational systems, equipment, and mission types.
Instructs formal and informal classes, as required, effectively performing as an instructor/facilitator/mentor in a variety of learning settings.
Plans and coordinates with the Shift Supervisor on the use of communications equipment providing hands on training and evaluation.
