Duties

Serving as a Supervisory Law Enforcement Specialist (Instruction) GS-1801-15 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Technical Training Operations Directorate (TTO) and is located in Glynco, Georgia. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Division Chief and is responsible for the overall performance and technical activities of subordinate staff, which may include Supervisory Law Enforcement Specialists, Law Enforcement Specialists (Instructors), Law Enforcement Training Advisors, International Training and Assistance Coordinators, and administrative personnel as assigned. Typical duties include: Planning and assigning work; setting and adjusting priorities as necessary; developing performance standards and appraising work; and providing advice, counseling, and guidance to subordinates. Analyzing programs to determine goals and objectives that may require special attention or urgency; determining and recommending most appropriate course of action in addressing budget issues and concerns; and planning for long-range staffing needs. Directing the management and supervision of the design and development of law enforcement training programs in support of the evolving mission requirements of the client agencies. Directing the conduct of special surveys, studies, or investigations in his/her area of training which the FLETC senior management and/or the DHS has expressed particular interest. Ensuring that the administrative processes (payroll, purchase and travel cards, budget, and records maintenance) are administered in accordance with governing standards and milestones.
