Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
NOTE: This multi-discipline recruitment will result in the hiring of one of the following disciplines: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. The Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed practitioner who has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in patient assessment including performing physical diagnosis, developing a comprehensive treatment plan, prescribing medications, evaluating laboratory data, and assessing patients' and families' psychosocial functioning. The PA functions as the HBPC provider for his/her HBPC patients and coordinates their care among all members of the health care team, including other HBPC staff, outpatient primary and specialty physicians, inpatient services, ancillary hospital services, and community organizations. The PA also promotes preventative health care and facilitates patient and staff education. The Physician Assistant, in collaboration with the Medical Directors and Program Managers of assigned services, is responsible for the quality of care provided by the HBPC program, for the productivity of the team and for the development and implementation of programs and initiatives to meet the facility's mission. The PA will function clinically as an independent health care provider working in conjunction with an attending physician(s).
