This is a Title 32 Excepted Service Position This National Guard position is for a NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), Position Description Number D1234P01 and is part of the NJJFHQ, National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is to manage a comprehensive Occupational Health Program for the state.
Duties
As a NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), GS-0018-12, you will perform the following duties and responsibilities: Plans, develops, analyses, and reviews occupational health nursing services and program requirements and determines impact on National Guard military and civilian personnel and public health. Serves as a liaison between all State, NGB and Federal organizations concerning occupational health programs and services. Evaluates and administers comprehensive occupational health programs, services and capabilities for military and civilian personnel in the work environment to include field operations, garrison, industrial and administrative sites. Provides occupational health services and medical treatment for non-occupational and occupational health illnesses. Coordinates with other DoD agencies, other federal agencies (e.g., OSHA, Center for Disease Control, etc.), and State agencies (e.g., State Departments of Health, State Environmental Quality, State Natural Resources, State Laboratories, etc.) regarding evaluation of toxicological data. Requires ability to review medical and other information pertinent to the OWCP claims. Evaluates new claims from a medical perspective to assist in determining whether the agency will controvert the claim. Collects data and prepares final reports on health education efforts. Establishes quality improvement monitoring systems and evaluating criteria. Performs other duties as assigned.

(Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS For entry into this specialty, normal color vision as defined by referenced authorities. Freedom from fear of heights (acrophobia). No history of emotional instability, personality disorder, or other unresolved mental health problems. No record of claustrophobia or claustrophobic tendencies. No medical conditions preventing prolonged standing, repetitive movements, walking up to one mile, or walking up and down stairs.
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination.
