About the Position: This position is located at DoWEA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA. This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is transitioning to the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA). **Excepted Service Position - Schedule Policy/Career Position**

Duties

Plan, and convene task forces and study groups to research, coordinate, implement, and evaluate operations, plans, policies, and legislative issues.

Monitor legislative proposals under consideration within Congressional committees and prepare impact statements to advise senior leadership.

Build consensus and facilitate cooperative and collaborative relationships within DoW and other Federal and non-Federal agencies and organizations.

Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare work schedules.

Work with Office of the Secretary of War (OSW) officials to initiate, review, or revise DoW Directives and Instructions that impact DoWEA's mission.

Serve as the expert on operations, plans, policies, and legislation pertaining to DoWEA, both internal and external.

Advise the Director, DoWEA, and other senior staff in defending, explaining, or justifying DoWEA programs.
