The Associate Chief Nurse (ACN) for VA Boston's Geriatrics & Extended Care Service Line provides senior nursing leadership across a broad continuum of geriatric, home-based, community-based, and long-term care programs. The ACN drives Age-Friendly Health System practices using the 4Ms (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, Mobility), ensuring high-quality, Veteran-centered care and aligning services with organizational priorities.
Duties
The Associate Chief Nurse of GEC position is in Geriatrics and Extended Care department at the VA Boston Healthcare System located at the Brockton, MA location. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Included but are not limited to: Provides nursing leadership for GEC-aligned programs including home-based and transitional care programs, purchased skilled and non-skilled nursing programs, and the Community Living Center's MDS nursing program. Collaborates with the Chief of GEC on program development, evaluation, and nurse-led models of care. Ensures compliance with VHA policies and accreditation standards. Integrates Age-Friendly 4Ms across programs. Supervises nursing staff; manages staffing, recruitment, retention, and training. Allocates resources to ensure safe, effective operations. Partners with interdisciplinary teams at facility, VISN, and national levels. Leads performance improvement and evidence-based practice. Requirements
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
