The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Transportation Branch, Museum Support Services Division, Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR), Facilities Management, Under Secretary for Finance and Administration. Duties
The Assistant Fleet Manager is responsible for performing a variety of duties with primary oversight responsibility of four major transportation programs: Mobile Asset Repair Program, Small Boat Program, Fuel Program and the Mobile Asset Disposal Program. In this position, you will: Provide authoritative technical leadership for the planning, operation, and maintenance of the Smithsonian's diverse fleet. Provide full supervisory and managerial authority over programs. Develop and implement maintenance management controls and regulatory directives that ensure full compliance with maritime laws. Provide guidance to technicians, analysts, and program staff. Evaluate performance against established productivity and quality standards, provide constructive feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.

The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria: Knowledge of fleet management information systems (FMIS), fleet management principles, concepts, methods and techniques, and preventive maintenance procedures and practices. Ability to supervise, manage and motivate a diverse range of personnel. Ability to research and analyze information including interpreting and applying Federal, SI, GSA, State, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively in speech, to a wide range of individuals and organizations. Skill in written communication to write reports, decision papers, disciplinary and performance-based correspondence actions.
