Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) is the Navy command responsible for the sea-based leg of the nuclear deterrent: the Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missile and its strategic weapon system, from research and development through production, logistics and fleet support, including the system for the Columbia-class submarines now being built. It is headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard, with field activities supporting the fleet.
Recent listings have included interdisciplinary engineers, a re-entry engineer, a supervisory interdisciplinary engineer, an interdisciplinary position, an infrastructure construction engineer, a program manager, a logistics management specialist, an accountant and a contracting officer.
Applying tip: interdisciplinary engineer announcements accept more than one engineering series, so state the series you qualify for and the ABET-accredited degree or equivalent behind it. Nearly all SSP work requires a security clearance and much of it is on-site, so read the conditions of employment before assuming any remote arrangement. Our engineering guide and clearance guide cover both.
