Naval Sea Systems Command
59 remote or telework-eligible positions · federal agency
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is the largest of the Navy’s systems commands. It designs, builds, delivers and maintains the fleet’s ships, submarines and combat systems, and it runs the Navy’s public shipyards and its surface and undersea warfare centers. Its headquarters is at the Washington Navy Yard, but most of its civilian workforce is at shipyards, warfare center divisions and program offices around the country.
Recent listings have included administrative and technical specialists, engineers and scientists hired through broad “Engineer/Scientist” announcements, electrical engineers, a systems engineer for the Cooperative Engagement Capability, a software developer, technicians, financial management analysts, contract specialists, program analysts, program managers and IT specialists in information security. Many warfare center announcements use demonstration-project pay bands (such as ND and NT) rather than GS grades.
Applying tip: a large share of NAVSEA work touches classified systems, so expect a security clearance requirement and say in your resume whether you hold one. For the broad engineer and scientist announcements, state your discipline and degree clearly so the system routes you to the right series. The engineering guide covers how Navy engineering hiring compares with other agencies.
