Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1193000 / D1194000 and is part of the WY Combined Support Maintenance Shop, Wyoming Army National Guard. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is required.

Duties

The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. (1) Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. (2) Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. (3) Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. (4) Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. (5) Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. ** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. **

Requirements

KEY REQUIREMENTS: Open to all United States military branches. Military members: Submit STP, vMPF rip, DVR, ERS, MBS, PDR or equivalent with resume. Refer to Required Documents below for acronym titles. Prior service members: Submit a DD Form 214, Member 4 Copy WYARNG Recruiting Website: https://www.nationalguard.com/wyoming Must become a member of the Wyoming Army Nat'l Guard before appt. May take up to 120 days. Recruitment/Relocation Incentives ARE NOT authorized. PCS costs are not authorized. Must be willing to relocate at own expense. May be required to successfully complete a two-year trial period. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination these military incentives. Relocation expenses will not be paid by the Government unless noted in the Announcement. Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a technician. Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f). Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. Duties and responsibilities may significantly impact the environment. Responsible to maintain awareness of environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, organization, and its changing mission.
