Duties
You will monitor the Contractor's Production, Quality and Manufacturing performance in the shipbuilding disciplines including: vessel hull structure, marine equipment structure, weight handling equipment, outfitting, coating systems, etc.
You will monitor assignments will include: Procedures Evaluation, Product Verification and verification of contractor's records.
You will perform inspection, sampling inspection, and witnesses functional tests of ship's equipment and systems.
You will provide inputs to the contractor's and SUPSHIP corrective action programs by initiating corrective Action Requests (CARS) and follow up to determine corrective action adequacy.
You will work or assist in other offices of the Quality Assurance Department or Project Office as the workload dictates, thus utilizing his knowledge of other shipbuilding trades as well as journeyman's knowledge of general shipbuilding.
You will investigates area where the contractor's inspection system is suspected of being inadequate for purpose of pinpointing the cause and making recommendations for remedial contractor or SUPSHIP action.
You will verify contractor's conformance to applicable safety regulations, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements
You will function as a member of simulated INSURV Board during Builder's Trials and assists INSURV Board during Acceptance Trials. Functions as a member of the INSURV Board when assigned
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-11 Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related GS-09 Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education. See Required Documents for additional information. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)
