Summary
About the Position: You will be responsible for the environmental assessment of hazardous, toxic, and radiological waste (HTRW) sites and Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) sites to determine the existing degradation of the environment.
Duties
Serve as a technical support to the Military Munitions (MM) and the Hazardous, Toxic and Radiological Waste (HTRW) programs.
Provide input into MM and HTRW studies and investigations, as well as creates design analyses, plans and specifications for remedial treatment facilities and other applicable environmental systems.
Review and prepare environmental studies, design analyses, and plans and specifications for HTRW and MMRP projects
Interact with project managers and other project delivery team members in the development of Statements of Work (SOW), independent government cost estimates (IGCE), and other acquisition-specific requirements for the procurement.
Serve as an expert advisor to field personnel during HTRW construction and MMRP remedial actions and site investigations.
Education
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Reviewing or preparing hazardous/ toxic/radioactive waste (HTRW) or Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) sites related documentation such as Work Plans or Five-Year Reviews: (2) Conducting quality assurance activities associated with HTRW or MMRP projects such as reviewing contractor prepared documents, providing field oversight of contractors, or conducting independent technical reviews; and (3) Communicating HTRW or MMRP activities to various stakeholders such as federal, state, local regulators, or the public. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Environmental Engineering Oral Communication Project Management Technical Documentation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
