Summary

You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY in the Commander, Navy Installations Command of US NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY STIRLING. The location for this position is Rockingham, Australia. ***See Additional Information section below for details***

Duties

You will assess individual/family needs and explore basic personality structures in relation to behavior patterns, mechanisms, and symptoms.

You will assess and triage clients who present risk to harm self or others, and refer to the appropriate, nearest behavioral health provider.

You will refer clients with issues falling outside the authorized scope of care (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, substance use disorders, major depression, etc.) within the Fleet and Family Support Center.

You will initiate, develop, and facilitate group treatment programs to address the needs of families, such as marital groups and child and adolescent groups.

You will provide critical intervention services, when requested.

You will develop and execute short-term, solution-focused NMC counseling treatment plans for those individuals who request such services and who present with commonly occurring life circumstance issues or adjustment disorders.

You will provide after-hour on-call services, as directed or when needed, for emergent family advocacy situations.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Basic Requirements for Social Science Series 0101: Applicants must have possessed a degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position being filled. OR possess a combination of education and experience that provided the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Basic Requirements for Psychologist (0180): Applicants successfully completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for a specialization other than clinical or counseling psychology. OR successfully completed all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. OR Have completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution. Basic Requirements for Social Worker (0185): Applicants successfully completed a degree in Social Work that fulfills all the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OR successfully completed a master's degree in social work with practicum. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ***Upon relocation to Australia, employee pay will be based upon the final post of duty to which the employee is assigned in Australia. This position requires routine on-site access to government facilities. The incumbent may perform the required tasks at an off-site location for situational telework only. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
