This job opportunity is for an HEALTH TECHNICIAN, position description NGD1724000, within the State Surgeon Office of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. This position is located at the 108th Medical Group at an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing and reports to the Health System Specialist/MDG SEL. The primary purpose is to serve as the functional expert for issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management programs
Duties
As an HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-8, you will: Serve as a medical technical advisor to leadership on all issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Health directives Develops plans, procedures, goals and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Air Force (USAF) and Air National Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards. Programs include physical examinations and standards, flight medicine and related aero medical and force health management concerns. Interprets directives and applies standards to assist in determining worldwide deployability of personnel Incumbent manages essential programs, which impact individual medical readiness (IMR) and personnel fitness for continued worldwide deployability Incumbent manages essential programs, which impact individual medical readiness (IMR) and personnel fitness for continued worldwide deployability Determines the need for and initiates worldwide duty evaluations for non-duty related actions. Ability to provide/execute prescreening for medical/dental/mental health & evaluation of personnel eligibility for deployment. Implements/maintains the information mgmt. systems utilized for aerospace medicine & force health protection programs. Systems include Preventive Health Assessments (PHA) and Individual Medical Readiness (IMR), Total Force Medical Readiness (TFMR), Aero medical Information Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS), Physical Exam Processing Program (PEPP), Grounding Management Information System (GMIS) and/or other related programs. Acts as the Medical Group customer service expert. Addresses complex issues using independent judgment. Monitors the medical status of military personnel. Identifies & profiles personnel with medical conditions impacting duty performance or assignment restriction. Assists with determining the need for &/or initiates Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) actions for duty related medical conditions. Coordinates, prepares and/or processes MEB with active-duty facility/MTF. Serves as the primary local interface with the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) for MES/Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) process, issues, and concerns. Advises and makes recommendations to senior officials/Airmen on force health issues related to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance. Administers policies and/or develops procedures for the flight medicine and/or grounding management programs, which directly affect flying safety and mission readiness. Performs other duties as assigned, not necessarily medical related.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Education
Completion of a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation for GS-5 positions. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
