Duties

You will serve as a DISTRICT PORT STATE CONTROL PRGM SPEC and be responsible for coordinating all Port State Control and vessel arrival activities in the District's area of responsibility. . Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serves as the primary representative withing the Heartland District on all matters related to the inspection of foreign flag vessels and vessels within the District Provides technical review of vessel and vessel's equipment plans and specs to determine compliance with US laws, regulations, international conventions and other applicable standards Provides policy guidance, consultative services and technical assistance for implementing laws, treaties, regulations and standards regarding port state control inspections and vessel arrivals Establishes and maintains continuing liaison and cooperative relations with other federal, state and local agencies to promote acceptance and understanding of USCG laws, regulations, standards and objectives Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application. Requirements

Student Loan - Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
