Duties
You will perform a full range of contracting functions including, awarding, administrating, negotiating, terminating and closing out various types of cost and fixed price contracts.
You will review requests for procurement of simple to complex ship repair projects.
You will prepare solicitation documents and incorporate routing provisions.
You will determine contractor eligibility.
You will analyze operations, methods and procedures to recommend changes due to revision in policy, procedures or management concepts.
You will provide on-the-job training to new employees, interns and lower level staff members.
You will serve as an Administrative Contracting Officer (ACO) or contract specialist.
You will monitor contractor progress and performance.
You will be responsible for determinations, decisions, approvals and contractual actions obligating the Government within your warrant authority.
You will ensure adequate funding is available to support contractual actions.
Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirements of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Contracting Positions: A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees. NOTE: The education requirement listed above applies only to individuals entering DoD GS-1102 positions on or after October 1, 2000. Current civilian personnel in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from meeting this requirement. Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent) 1102 or before September 30, 2000 are also exempt from meeting this requirement.
