Duties
This Budget Analyst serves as a key financial advisor responsible for supporting the formulation, execution, and oversight of the district's budget. The position analyzes financial data, prepares budget estimates and justifications, monitors the use of funds, develops financial reports, and advises management on resource needs, funding issues, and cost-saving opportunities. The position also supports accounting activities and helps ensure that financial resources are used in accordance with applicable policies and requirements. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Budget Analyst support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of Budget Formulation and Execution, Financial Analysis and Funds Management, and Budget Reporting and Management Advisory Support. Typical work assignments will include: Developing and maintaining budget plans and estimates to support current and future program needs. Reviewing funding requests and recommending appropriate use or distribution of available resources. Using financial, accounting, and reporting systems to track spending, obligations, fund balances, and other financial activity. Analyzing financial information to identify trends, discrepancies, funding concerns, and potential cost savings. Preparing budget and financial reports, schedules, and supporting information, and advising management on financial matters and resource needs.
