Data Science Series
13 open positions in this category
OPM established the 1560 Data Science series in 2021 to classify work that had been spread across statistics, IT, operations research and mathematics: building the models, pipelines and analytics that turn an agency’s data into decisions. The series is used across civilian and defense agencies, and the listings here reflect that spread.
Recent listings have included data scientists and supervisory data scientists at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, HUD’s Office of Community Planning and Development, the Air Force element at U.S. Space Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, along with a senior data scientist, a senior AI/ML engineer and positions in the Departments of Agriculture and the Treasury.
Applying tip: the 1560 qualification standard includes a basic education requirement in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science or data science, or a documented combination of education and experience, so attach transcripts and describe the languages, tools and modeling methods behind each project. Defense listings in this series usually require a security clearance; our clearance guide explains how that interacts with remote work.
