Defense Information Systems Agency
37 remote or telework-eligible positions · federal agency
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is the Department of Defense combat support agency that builds and runs the networks, data centers, cloud and communications services the military and the President’s command and control depend on, from its headquarters at Fort Meade in Maryland and field sites around the world. Much of its civilian workforce sits in the DoD Cyber Excepted Service rather than the competitive service, which changes how announcements are written and evaluated.
Recent listings have included IT cybersecurity specialists in network, information security and policy and planning specialties, their supervisors, a cybersecurity recent-graduate position, IT project managers, program analysts, contract specialists, a logistics management specialist, an industrial property management specialist under direct hire, a general attorney and a supervisory electronics engineer.
Applying tip: Cyber Excepted Service announcements follow their own hiring rules, which differ from competitive-service rules on rating, ranking and how veterans are considered, so read the “How You Will Be Evaluated” section rather than assuming GS conventions apply; the pay plan is usually GG, with the same grade structure as GS. Nearly every DISA job requires a clearance. The IT and cybersecurity guide covers how federal cyber hiring works across agencies.
