Architect of the Capitol
11 remote or telework-eligible positions · federal agency
The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is the legislative branch agency that builds, maintains and preserves the Capitol complex: the U.S. Capitol, the House and Senate office buildings, the Library of Congress buildings, the Supreme Court building, the U.S. Botanic Garden, the Capitol Power Plant and the grounds around them. Its workforce is heavy on architects, engineers, project managers, cost estimators and the skilled trades, backed by procurement, IT and human resources staff.
Recent listings have included an architect, a mechanical engineer, a structural engineer, a general engineer in construction management, a cost estimator, a maintenance mechanic, a chief procurement officer, an IT specialist in security and a supervisory human resources specialist in employee and labor relations.
Applying tip: AOC is outside the executive branch and runs its own hiring, so its announcements and application steps differ from the Title 5 process most federal job advice assumes; read the “how to apply” section in full and submit everything it lists. Project experience on historic or occupied buildings is a clear advantage. The engineering guide covers how federal engineering work is structured.
