Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist with Office of the Secretary of Interior. The vacancy for this position will be filled in the following branch: Recruitment-Law Enforcement Duty location will be based on selectee's current DOI duty location. This position is suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

Duties

At the full performance level GS-13 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Manages and directs the work of subordinate Human Resources staff for the National and Public Safety Law Enforcement Office (NSPS), providing guidance, oversight, and performance management. Exercises full supervisory authority, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees. Ensures staff are aligned with organizational goals and operational needs. Oversees the planning, execution, and evaluation of HR programs and initiatives within the Branch. Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations, policies, and procedures. Coordinates and integrates HR functions to support mission objectives. Interprets and applies HR laws, regulations, and policies. Advises management and staff on complex HR matters, including staffing, classification, employee relations, and performance management. Develops and implements local policies and procedures as needed. Provides expert advice to senior leadership on HR strategies, workforce planning, and organizational development. Participates in long- and short-term planning to address workforce needs and optimize Branch operations. Investigates and resolves sensitive or complex HR issues. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters affecting the organization, including waiving or deviating from established policies when appropriate. Represents the Branch and organization in meetings, negotiations, and consultations with internal and external stakeholders. Communicates HR program goals, changes, and requirements to staff and leadership. The position is suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
