Summary
About the Position: Serves as Chief, exercising jurisdiction over the Lock and Dam Systems. The incumbent will be responsible for overall planning, design, scheduling and execution of all operations and maintenance activities associated with District Lock and Dam projects.
Duties
Supervises office staff, involved with the coordination, management and execution of the Lock and Dam operations and maintenance program.
Determines equipment, personnel and monetary resources needed to accomplish the Lock and Dam Operations and Management program. Ensures that budgetary and manpower resources are adequate to achieve established goals.
Responsible for the design and construction of multi-million-dollar contracts associated with the maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of the lock and dam system.
Administers a program of ongoing operation, maintenance and repair at the Locks and Dams in the District.
Coordinates the response to emergency situations at the Locks and Dams.
Directs the 24-hour a day operation of multiple Locks and Dams on the designated waterways.
Responsible for all aspects of personnel management.
