Summary
This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Congressional and Public Affairs This position primary purpose is to help manage and evaluate the agency's continuing drug use prevention and education support programs.
Duties
As a Public Affairs Specialist (Senior Prevention Program Manager), your typical work assignments may include: Developing and overseeing the production and dissemination of drug education materials including web-related content. Planning, developing, and executing demand reduction, drug education, and prevention support initiatives for DEA. Planning educational and public information programs to stimulate interest in controlling the use of narcotics and other dangerous drugs. Reviewing productivity in all areas, monitors problem areas, and oversees implementation of solutions that will eliminate problems. Suggesting topics for publications and web related materials to inform the public and private sector agencies of the dangers of drug use. Stimulating cooperation with state and local criminal justice and prevention focused groups through liaison and initiation of ongoing programs and projects. Representing DEA at high level interagency, agency, and other meetings on prevention, education, and community outreach requests. Actively participating in and leading formulation and reviews of community liaison activities for agency-wide programs. Providing ongoing technical assistance and training for the DEA community outreach specialists in the field divisions. Planning, directing, and executing liaison operations for critical agency-wide programs, with national or international implications. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and exercises a broad degree of independence and applies authoritative judgment with various stakeholders in government, private industry, and higher education academic institutions.
