***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a NON-MEDICAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR in the FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM, FAMILY READINESS, of COMFLEACT YOKOSUKA.

Duties

You will assess individual/family needs and explore basic personality structures in relation to behavior patterns, mechanisms, and symptoms.

You will assess and triage clients who present risk to harm self or others, and refer to the appropriate, nearest behavioral health provider.

You will initiate, develop, and facilitate group treatment programs to address the needs of families, such as marital groups and child and adolescent groups.

You will provide critical incident intervention services, when requested.

You will develop and execute short-term, solution-focused NMC counseling treatment plans for those individuals who request such services and who present with commonly occurring life circumstance issues or adjustment disorders.

You will be required to hold a duty to provide 24/7 Response for Family Advocacy per DoW regulations.

Education

This position is a TIER TWO clinical care practitioner. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.8: 1. Possess at least a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: a. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or an equivalent degree, OR b. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree, OR c. Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR d. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a one-year APA accredited clinical internship 2. State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. Basic Requirements for Social Science Series 0101: Applicants must have possessed a degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position being filled. OR possess a combination of education and experience that provided the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Basic Requirements for Psychologist (0180): Applicants successfully completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for a specialization other than clinical or counseling psychology. OR successfully completed all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. OR Have completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution. Basic Requirements for Social Worker (0185): Applicants successfully completed a degree in Social Work that fulfills all the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OR successfully completed a master's degree in social work with practicum. Transcripts are required.
