This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Capital Access in Birmingham, AL, Herndon, VA, El Paso, TX, Citrus Heights, CA, Fresno, CA and Santa Ana, CA. The incumbent(s) serves as a Loan Specialist in one of the Commercial Loan Service Centers or National Guaranty Purchase Center and is responsible for performing servicing, purchase, or liquidation activities.
Duties
As a/an Loan Specialist (Commercial) at theGS- 1165-11, some of your typical work assignments may include: Performs servicing, purchasing, and liquidation of delinquent loans or potentially delinquent loans. Reviews liquidation plans setting out the steps to be followed to achieve the orderly liquidation of the particular debt. Determines when all reasonable collection efforts have been exhausted and recommends that a loan be charged-off. Gathers and reviews facts and data relating to the loan balance, lien situations, collateral, interest of other creditors, and any assets of the borrower which may provide recovery to the Agency. Contacts lenders/Certified Development Companies (CDC's) to discuss the business, the loan situation and explore all available alternatives. Gathers information from borrowers, major creditors, and legal representatives to make recommendations to maximize recovery to the Agency and minimize loss to the obligor(s). Analyzes potential "work-outs" in common situations and develops recommendations for standard plans for repayment of the debt through restructured amortization, extended maturities, etc. Reviews and analyzes requests from direct borrowers or requests from participant lenders in relation to servicing, liquidating and purchasing loans. Makes recommendations on these requests to supervisor/team leader.
Education

How you will be evaluated
Applicants meeting basic eligibility requirements will be further evaluated based on additional assessments. One of these assessment is USA Hire.
