Summary
This position is located in the office of General Counsel (OGC), Program Law and Policy Department (PLPD), at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). More than one selection may be made from this vacancy announcement.
Duties
The candidate selected for this position will: Advise PBGC on legal issues respecting multiemployer pension plans and PBGC's insurance program for these plans. Such issues arise in the context of administrative determinations, requests for guidance, negotiations, providing technical assistance to Congress, and developing regulations. Investigate abuses of PBGC's insurance program for multiemployer plans. Advise and represent PBGC in litigation respecting multiemployer plans including by drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other filings. Negotiate with plan sponsors and other stakeholders and draft agreements. Conduct meetings and correspond with stakeholders regarding requests for guidance on issues involving multiemployer law.
Education
Applicants must posses a J.D. degree from a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).In addition to the education requirement, you must currently be a member in good standing of the bar of a State, a Territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
