Duties
As an Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties: Oversee the design and integration parameters such as, but not limited to mechanical, structural, electrical, environmental, industrial, manufacturing, and chemical engineering. Determine nature and scope of project requirements and preliminary planning for design feasibility of local fabrication versus procurement, adaptability, cost and maintenance considerations. Provide technical guidance on vehicle and machinery specifications appropriate for use in the local climate while monitoring fleet vehicle usage, maintenance, and life cycle. This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZT-4 is equivalent to the GS-11/12.
