Duties

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is looking for an experienced senior level executive to serve as the Director, Division of Electric Power Regulation - East. Under overall guidance of the OEMR Deputy Director, the Director will provide vision and leadership in the regulation of energy markets and transmission service in the East region. The Director will lead a highly skilled, professional staff in analyzing filings regarding energy market design, the rates, terms, and conditions of FERC-jurisdictional services, and transmission planning and cost allocation in the East region. The Director will provide expert advice to the OEMR Director and the Commission on the full scope of matters relevant to the Division's responsibilities and serve as a key liaison with East region stakeholders. Additional responsibilities: Serves as the Director of the Division of Electric Power Regulation - East with the primary responsibility for the supervision and management of the Division. Reviews and evaluates electric rate applications in the East region to determine if proposed rates, terms, and conditions of FERC-jurisdictional services and market rules for organized wholesale electricity markets comply with statutory requirements and Commission policy. Reviews and evaluates the evidentiary record of formal proceedings and Initial Decisions to provide technical advice to the Commission and to help formulate staff recommendations. Participates in settlement conferences, technical conferences, informal hearings or meetings with other government and industry officials as the key representative on matters relevant to the Division's responsibilities.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Subject to a 1-year SES/supervisory probationary period (unless already completed). Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
