Summary

This position is located at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Services (ARS), National Bio And Agro-Defense Facility located in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will participate with the Select Agent Program Specialist in the planning, implementation, coordination, and integration of all NBAF Select Agent Program (SAP) activities pertaining to compliance with the regulations governing the possession, use, and transfer of Select Agents and Toxins.

Duties

Provides input into the development and/or review of procedures, documents, checklists, and other tools to ensure NBAF’s regulatory compliance.

Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and integration of all NBAF Select Agent Program (SAP) activities pertaining to compliance with the regulations governing the possession, use, and transfer of Select Agents and Toxins.

Provides support in the management, implementation, and performance for the transfer of samples within NBAF, transferred out of and received at NBAF to meet FSAP Form 2 compliance standards.

Ensures that laboratories or animal facilities meet specific and predetermined guidelines, policies, and procedures relating to pathogenic organisms prior to work beginning to assure compliance with applicable regulations or guidelines.

Participates in the implementation of inventory control and accountability procedures utilizing database systems and equipment to ensure enhanced security of BSAT stock inventory.

Works in compiling documents on annual facility High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) certifications, BioSafety Cabinet certifications, and facility performance verifications.

Requirements

Respirator fitting and certification is required.
