Duties

This position is located at Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB),Assistant Administrator - Permitting and Taxation - National Revenue Center. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Coordinate and assist audit offices and other divisions in the application of Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs) and advanced data analysis techniques of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition industry members. Plan, develop, and coordinate the application of advanced data analysis techniques used by the assigned division requiring judgment, imagination, and novel approaches to meet data analysis requirements. Interview TTB staff, industry representatives, and others including Federal, state and local agency officials to obtain information related to industry data, trends and other required information. Prepare and furnish accurate and timely reports and disseminates significant findings and disclosures developed by use of advanced data analyses, CAATs and related matters. This dissemination may take the form of emails, memos, reports and presentations to management and other areas of TTB. Provide data analysis audit advisory services and training to all levels of TTB and the assigned division, including consultation on a variety of issues and topics focused on the acquisition and conversion of computerized data, and the use of data analysis tools for audits and investigations.

Education

Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
