Summary

This position is located in the Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) Business Center (BC), Chief Financial Operations Office (CFOO) Financial Management Division (FMD). The primary purpose of the position is to provide technical accounting expertise. The incumbent serves as staff advisor in carrying out vital accounting and financial program assignments. identifying and providing recommendations for resolving critical accounting and financial management problems.

Duties

Serve as an Accountant conducting day-to-day work operations.

Prepares original accounting transaction entries into financial systems and recurring reports related to accounting practices.

Monitors basic obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds; identifying conditions over and under funding obligation.

Analyzes a wide variety of documents, reports, policies, operations and procedures within the assigned accounting or financial management area.

Develops alternative options to improving financial management performance.

Offers recommendations or ways to protect the integrity of procedural and systems modifications to maximize utilization of resources.

Reviews incoming, outgoing, and summary financial reports to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial operations and financial reports submitted from a variety of customers.

Reviews financial data and assists with identifying trends, potential financial problems, and funding shortfalls.

Researches and analyzes available information, regular and recurring events in the cost of accomplishing specific work objectives, and relationships among organizational needs and objectives.

Prepares ad hoc reports as necessary.

Requirements

You must be a US Citizen or US National. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt. Education

College Transcript: If qualifying based on education, you must submit a copy of your college transcript with course number and department (i.e., Bio 101, Math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours, and grade earned. Foreign Education: You must submit verification that education completed in a foreign institution, was recognized by an accreditation body accepted by the U.S. Department of Education. You must include a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript. There are private organizations that specialize in this evaluation and a fee is normally associated with this service. For a list of private organizations that evaluate education, visit the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) website. Your transcripts must be in English or include an English translation. You may submit an unofficial copy of your transcript at the initial phase of the application process.
